What Should you Know About Reflective Level Gauges?

As a Level Gauge Glass Manufacturer, I share with you. There are two types of glass level gauges: reflective and transparent. Reflective liquid level gauges are popular tools for checking liquid levels in containers. The different reflectivities of steam and liquid form the basis of the principle.

A reflective liquid level gauge, also called a square level gauge, clearly shows water level boundaries. This reduces the risk of distortion or reading errors. You can install the reflective level gauge at an angle or vertically. This setup offers higher accuracy and better reliability. As you can imagine, this will greatly benefit many industries.

Reflex Level Gauge

The reflection type liquid level gauge detects how steam and liquid reflect light differently. It also offers flexibility. You can combine many liquid level gauge sections to expand the observation area.

The reflection type liquid level gauge is also extremely flexible. Combining many liquid level gauge sections together can realize the observation area expansion. The reflective level gauge is useful in many settings. You can use it in feedwater heaters, deaerators, boiler drums, and other tanks.

A reflective level gauge has a liquid column in its cavity. This column is behind a single piece of glass and applies pressure to the gauge body. The outer surface of this glass is flat. The inner surface has prism grooves that face the vapor and liquid spaces. The system detects light as either reflected or absorbed. This depends on whether it enters the vapor or liquid space.

When light hits a groove in the steam space, it reflects off the groove’s surface. Then, it bounces back to the viewer. In the liquid state, substances absorb light. The area with the liquid shows one display, while the area above it shows another.

The reflective liquid level gauge uses prism glass to measure the liquid level in the container. When light hits the glass without liquid, the prism reflects it straight out of the level gauge. Contrasting colors create clear contour lines. This makes it easy to see the measurement results.

The designers made the transparent level gauge differently from the reflection type. This level gauge isn’t a tube type. It holds liquid between two clear flat glasses. The different transparency of the two media can indicate the height of the liquid level. At the back of the clear level gauge, a light source shines. Its light shines into the observation area. This lets you read or estimate the measurement results. For most installation situations, transparent level gauges are also suitable.
