Gauge glass is common in the petrochemical and power industries. It must have high temperature and pressure resistance, along with corrosion resistance. A clear sign is also essential. Gauge glass comes in two main types: reflex gauge glass and transparent gauge glass.
1. Reflex gauge glass
Manufacturers create reflex gauge glass, also known as reflex sight glass, using borosilicate and aluminosilicate glass.
There are grooves on the side of the glass surface facing the medium. It has two types based on grooves: single groove and multi-groove. Also, it has great acid and alkali resistance.

2. Transparent flat gauge glass
Manufacturers make a sight glass, or level glass, from borosilicate or aluminosilicate glass. They shape the glass into a strip and use it in boilers or instruments to observe liquid levels. Unlike reflective gauge glass, both sides are smooth, ensuring great transparency. The product can withstand high heat and high pressure. It works at conditions of 430 degrees Celsius and 6 MPa.
